Llanelli Rock Scene Kilkenny Cat - Gig Review Sat 27th Feb 2016
by Mark Foster - Reporter
Cargo’s gig in the Kilkenny Cat on Saturday was on after the Ireland game, so they had a large crowd there to see them. I missed the begginning of their set but the word that seemed prevalent amongst the crowd was ‘eclectic’. As well as pub rock staples such as ‘Radar Love’ and ‘Play that funky Music’, they also put some unexpected songs into their set. I don’t remember many gigs where Peter Frampton’s ‘Show me the way’ is followed by Franz Ferdinand’s  ‘Take me out’. The band may be quite experienced but they did not just choose classic rock songs from the 60’s and 70’s, with more modern bands like the Foo Fighters making it into the set. The Band played a long gig but the crowd still had not had enough when they finished, calling the band back on for an encore with the band finishing the gig on Reef’s ‘Place your hands’.
